Melody Thomas Scott
Anyone who has been watching Y&R the past few weeks knows that Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott), legendary socialite wife of Victor (Eric Braeden), has been hiding one big secret: she has a long lost son that she had as a teenager before turning her life around. Rumours had been flying high since August that Dylan McAvoy (Steve Burton) would be tied to a longtime character. Is the hunk possibly Nikki's son?
There is another possibility, however. Nikki learned this week that her son lives right in her home of Genoa City. She has not only shared some bizarre scenes with Dylan, but with his army medic buddy Stitch (Sean Carrigan). But all the signs are pointing to Dylan. It would certainly liven up his character, which I must admit has been mind numbingly boring since his debut last January. There was good prospects for a pairing with heroine-turned-mentally ill villain Sharon Newman (Sharon Case), but that was destroyed for Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan), who spent months passing off her baby as that of Dylan (which ultimately blew up in her face).
All this to say is that it's time the writers over at Y&R gave our friend Steve Burton a good, interesting storyline that doesn't make us want to watch paint dry. It would also launch Dylan into some interesting interaction with the Newman family, and worsen the tension between him and Nikki's other hunky son Nick (Joshua Morrow). Be sure to watch The Young and the Restless weekdays on CBS to find out who Nikki's son will turn out to be!
